Metrics are a very important part of the dissertation. It allows me to measure the success or otherwise of the Wiki Portal when the pilot is being run. In order to design what metrics structure I will apply to the pilot, I will need to figure out what it is I want to measure.

Some obvious things are:

• Usage Volumes - The number of users engaging with the system, the number of pages being created, the number of edits and many more. These will be easy to track, as the confluence wiki engine already captures these details.
• HCI Data - I want to measure the users perception of the wiki-portal. Ease of use, presentation, navigation, and personalisation will be important here.
