During this week I met with the Head of Operations & Technology in my organisation, and the Heat of IT. I spoke to them about the need for collaboration in our processes. I also described the benefits of capturing and re-using knowledge from project to project.

They described previous attempts at enterprise software which would allow this. However, the primary deterant was the liciense fees associated with these packages (typically IBM or Microsoft offerings). I showed them my vision for how the use of wiki "Workspaces" could help us visualise the projects we work on daily. I also showed them that because of the advances in social computing over the last 5 - 7 years, that there were many orthogonal benefits built into these technologies such as rss and email notification.

They were interested in pursueing an experiment with the use of this type of product and so I will now work to define the pro's, con's and other issues which need to be addressed based on the needs of the organisation.
